The purpose-built division of TRS is engaged in basic research and frontier technology studies.

Chinese Information Processing Research Center
The research institution under the Beijing Information Science & Technology University was set up with the support of the United Nation Development Program by funding 2 million US dollors in 1983. Mr. Suicai Shi, president of TRS, is in charge of the center as director.

TRS Software Opening Laboratory
Its a joint R&D laboratory of software between TRS and the Beijing Information Science & Technology University funding by both central and local finance.

Base on its outstanding achievement and influence in the fields of information processing and search engine software technology, in 2006, TRS obtained the support from the Chinese National Programs for High Technology Research and Development, shouter for ‘863’ plan, for the subjects of ‘Chinese-centred multi-linguistic information processing’ and ‘key technologies and service products developing of cross-media search engine’. Mr. Shi was invited to join the general expert panel for major and important projects of ‘863’ plan.
